Telur belado: hard boiled eggs with sambal belado
It's hard to resist the allure of eggs in all their versatile forms. From classic breakfast dishes to international cuisine, eggs take center stage as a nutritious source of protein and a blank canvas for showcasing unique culinary flavors. For a twist on this recipe, try substituting sambal belado with my personal favorite, sambal cabe ijo.
This simple Indonesian dish is a perennial favorite that showcases the beloved condiment of Indonesia: sambal. The dish has the added benefit of improving in taste as the eggs gradually absorb the spices, and it can be stored in the refrigerator for several days. Enjoy it with a plate of hot steamed rice and you won't need anything else, but be sure to have a glass of water nearby in case the spice level is too high for you!
